Time has shown that architects have always been concerned with the spatial ability,it is their job to think in terms of visualizing, generating the three dimensional forms of buildings, interior spaces and the space around the building.

It is very important to say that depending on the architect's capacity there are four approaches to generate the 3D forms .

The first one is :PRAGMATIC DESIGN:here the main idea behind the building is trial and error until a form emerges.Back in the days this was a characteristic for the Paleolithic settlements.Whats more interesting that the reason for building is based on climatic modification. Now days this design is used to find new ways how to use and work with new materials.

The second one is :ICONIC DESIGN:here there is a mutual adaption between house-form and pattern of living and vise versa,Cultural reasons are essential on the pattern of the building and the image that is mentally fixed what a house should look like we can call it iconic design, meaning that an artifact reminds of its object by some kind of resemblance.

3)ANALOGIC DESIGN:this is represented by the generation of the new forms, which their method is very important for the human beings. An interesting fact is that this was firstly seen in the funerary complex designed for king Djoser at Sahara with the analogy of the heap of stones covered with a pragmatic device for the sand not to flow away.

Other interesting examples we can mention are :LE CORBUSIER who claimed that the roof for the chapel at Ronchamp was inspired by a horseshoe crab shell etc .All in all analogic design is the combination of visual analogies of a structure with natural features.

CANONIC DESIGN :which ,like the Classical Greek and Roman orders, builds upon iconic design by the provision of rules ,componens .

Even though we have these approaches there is still a question to be made according to Geoffrey

WHAT COMES FIRST IN THE DESIGN OF A BUILDING?

He says first comes the ground then the nature of the site, of the soil and of the climate ,then it comes the materials such as money ,brick wood, stone etc,Next is what labor manual, machine or both.

To sum it all up for an architect to build well is very important to distribute all their efforts into their works in order to end up with a unified work and a functional one too.
