In the last lecture we talked about the relation between the building technology and the aesthetics. We tried to understand this relationship by taking a look at the PIERRE LUIGI NERVI'S buildings as an architect engineer and builder.
What was interesting about him is that he used reinforced-concrete in a continuous curving system different from the others.
BUT what is this relation between these two?
Firstly we should know the difference in architecture between physical structure and aesthetic aspect of it.These mean that we should obey some objective requirements and produce some emotion depending on the designer.
It is very important to mention that architecture is the only art which is achieved and limited by technical means.
However a technically perfect work might not be aesthetically good and on the other hand an aesthetically perfect work is an excellent form of the technical point of view as well.
BUT IS GOOD TECHNOLOGY all it takes ?
NO,because it it is not a sufficient condition for GOOD ARCHITECTURE.
This brings us to this question:WHAT CONDITIONS DEFINE BUILDING TECHNOLOGY?
YOU HAVE TO BUILD CORRECTLY.
HOW DO YOU BUILD CORRECTLY ?
Well you take into consideration stability durability function and maximum results with minimum means.
I think that history shows that the relationship between building technology and aesthetic appearance are present in buildings from the past to the present.
Conclusion:We have prove that this relationship has been found in great buildings from the past and has remained intact since.
